Repêchage Honey and Almond Scrub - Review

repechage

repechage As I've had a rather busy week, and it's getting late over here in study-time (not that I'm studying now..), this will be a short little review of one of my favorites from my Sicily trip:

When I holiday-travel nowadays I try to travel light, i.e, only with carry on luggage (I know, gasp). I like it because it gives me the opportunity to bring only my most trusted and favorite products (check out my latest update on my holiday-essentials), as well as open up the stage for those many product samples I've got stored away in the dark dusty cracks and corners of my bathroom cupboard. There's also a certain kind of freedom that comes with only being allowed 1 little plastic bag of toiletries, even for, or should I say ESPECIALLY for a product junky like myself. Due to the space and content limits, I've come to appreciate products that serve more than one purpose. One such product that I brought with me on my trip to Sicily was the Repechage Honey and Almond Scrub.

This is a thick, creamy scrub that not surprisingly, smells of honey. You massage it in for about a minute, then you leave it on for 10 min, to get the moisturizing face-mask benefits of it. Super easy! My skin was left smooth and moisturized after. It's perfect for combination and dry skin, due to it's many moisturizing ingredients, and it acts balancing on the oily areas to reduce shine.

Full ingredient list:

Honey/Mel, Butylene Glycol, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Meal, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Sorbitol, Hypericum Perforatum Extract, Ormenis Multicaulis Oil, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Rosa Damascena Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Soybean (Glycine Soja) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid

I love that honey is the first and main ingredient! That explains the smell. Here's a little info on the main ingredients:

Honey The sweet syrupy substance produced by bees, has value as a humectant (moisture binder) with some soothing properties. It is lightly aromatic due to the presence of essential oils found in the nectars of the flower visited by bees.

Almond Meal Ground almonds make excellent natural exfoliators. Moistened with sweet Almond Oil, they help replenish the oils lost from the skin during the cleansing process. Soft in texture, they produce a gentle, massaging effect in exfoliators.

Oatmeal Obtained by grinding the kernels of Oats, Avena Sativa. Contains both natural whole protein (13%) and Lipid material (8%). Known for its soothing and conditioning effect on the skin, it also helps absorb oils. Leaves a silky, smooth feel to the skin.

St. John's Wort (Hypericum Extract) Obtained from the flowers, leaves, capsules and stemhead of Hypericum Perfortatum, St. John’s Wort. It is known for its purifying, soothing and toning properties.

I really liked this scrub, as I felt it did a nice job of functioning both as an exfoliator and a face mask, and although the results weren't of the staggering "OMG there's a new face there staring back at me" type, I would definitely recommend it as a multipurpose travel product. Especially for sensitive and combination skin.
