I started this website as a blog, a hobby, a way for me to research and write about my number one interest field: Skincare and cosmetic chemistry. I have come a long way since that last year of medical school when ROKderm was founded, I've published a book , I work only with skin and aesthetics as an aesthetic doctor, and get to travel and read and do all sorts of things I like and love on a day to day basis. I do however, have more dreams, and the biggest one of them all, the dream that lead me into medical training in the first place, will soon be budding into reality. Everyone who knows me, know that I LOVE skin and I LOVE skincare. My end goal was always to create and sell my own skincare products, and so I find myself at a turning point in my life where I suddenly have the time and opportunity to make my dream come true. Don't get me wrong, this is all very early phase, but I'm doing what I know best, which is jumping head first into the challenge, to later learn what comes next. Tomorrow I'm headed off to Seoul South Korea to meet with a number of possible partners, and I know nothing might come out of it, but at least I'm on my way. When deciding which partners to find, labs, countries, pharmacists, South Korea stood out. It is THE center of innovation in biotechnology and also skincare, remember my post on the cosmetic trends of 2015? Asiafication is real, and it's great, because that's where it all goes down, everything new is from Asia, and more precisely South Korea, so if I want to have a cutting-edge-better-than-the-rest product, I need to be there too.
Also, I would love it if you would follow me on this adventure, because I'm really going to need your help. What are you missing from the market today? Do you have a dream product that's currently unavailable? Hit me with any questions or ideas, and wish me luck!
